1. What is an Instrument? Defined Instrumentation?
Instrument as a
device to measure the value of a process variable. It can also indicate and
transmits a signal to a remote device.
Instrumentation is the technology of using instrument to measure and
control the physical and chemical properties of material.
2.
What
is an indicator? What is a transmitter?
An indicator is a device with a defined/calibrated
scale. Used for local display of a process. A transmitter transmeet a signal.
It used an external power or air supply and produce a signal proportional to
the process value.
3.
What
is signal? What are the types?
A signal is the generated output of a
transmitter indicating the value of process variable. Pneumatic, Electronic
signal are commonly used. Also there are digital and analog type of signal.
4.
What is
calibration?
Calibration is the process of verification
of response of an instrument device against the known standards.
5.
What
is maintenance?
Maintenance is periodic checking of the
device and equipment for their condition and function/repair or replacement of
faulty parts. Lubrication is main activities.
6.
What
is your job title/function?
I am an instrument technician. My job functions
are to carry out maintains on process instrument and control system.
7.
What
are the process variable?
The process variables are
(1)
FLOW
(2)
PRESSURE
(3)
TEMPRETURE
(4)
LEVEL
(5)
QUALLITY
%O₂ (Percentage), CO₂,
PH.
8.
Defined
all the process variables and state their units of measurement?
FLOW
(What are the flow
units?)
Kg/hr, liters/min,
gallons/min, t/hr, barrels/day, (m³/hr, nm³/hr Gas flow)
PRESSURE
Force acting per
unit area (P=F/A) Units:- millimeter water column(MM of H₂O), Pascal, millibars
used for low pressure, bars, kg/cm², psi, kpa(kilo Pascal), mpa(mega Pascal)
are used for high pressure.
LEVEL
Difference between
to heights,
Units:- millimeter(mm),
centimeter(cm), meter, foot, and % (Percentage)
TEMPERATURE
It is the degree of
hotness or coldness of a body.
Units:- Degree centigrade(°C),
Degree Fahrenheit(°F).
QULITY
It deals with
analysis.
Units:-PH, %CO₂,
%O₂, conductivity, viscosity
